Microneedling in Gangnam Seoul, Korea

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a popular non-surgical procedure in Korea that involves using fine needles to create micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, leading to improved skin texture, reduced scars, and a more youthful appearance.

What is MicroNeedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of fine needles to create tiny, controlled punctures (micro-injuries) in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural healing process and encourage the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins that promote youthful, smooth, and firm skin. Microneedling is often used to treat various skin concerns, including acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture.

Who are suitable candidates for microneedling?

Suitable candidates for microneedling are generally those who have specific skin concerns that can be addressed through collagen stimulation. Ideal candidates include:

  • Individuals with acne scars: Microneedling is often used to improve the appearance of acne scars by promoting the regeneration of healthy skin.
  • People with fine lines and wrinkles: Those looking to reduce the appearance of aging signs such as fine lines and wrinkles can benefit from the collagen-boosting effects.
  • Individuals with enlarged pores: Microneedling helps minimize the size of enlarged pores, creating a smoother skin texture.
  • Those with uneven skin texture or tone: People experiencing rough or uneven skin can achieve a more uniform skin surface with microneedling.
  • Patients with stretch marks: Microneedling can improve the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating the production of new skin cells.
  • Healthy individuals: Microneedling is best for people in good overall health with no active skin infections, rashes, or severe skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.

It’s important for candidates to consult with a dermatologist or licensed professional to determine if microneedling is suitable for their skin type and specific concerns.

How does the treatment work?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses a device equipped with fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which stimulates the body’s natural healing response. These micro-injuries prompt the production of collagen and elastin, helping to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars, and minimize the size of pores. The treatment can reach depths of up to 2 mm, promoting better blood circulation and cleaning out pores.

Before the procedure begins, the skin is cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort. The treatment typically takes under an hour, depending on the area being treated. Afterward, a hydrating gel is applied to support the skin’s healing process and promote optimal results.

What areas can be treated?

Microneedling can be used on almost any area of the face, including the forehead, cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, and around the eyes. It can also be used on other areas such as the neck, décolleté, hands, and arms. Two areas that are considered as well are the stomach and the thighs, as microneedling treatment can also be used in addressing issues such as stretch marks.
